Santo Antao

Holidays to Santo Antao are becoming more popular for those that like mountains, scenery, walking/hiking. There are some hotels, restaurants and now some new smaller developments being built on the island to meet the growing tourist and investment market.  Ferries will transport you to and from Sao Vicente and Santo Antao.

A new hotel has opened up in Porto Novo in 2007/8. The new coastal road opened in April 09, which will take you around the coastline to Ribiera Grande, instead of over the mountain. 

There are small plots of land available in and around the populated areas but there are also some larger plots with some situated up in the mountains or along the coastline. Some developers have already purchased and have either started or have completed a number of small projects on the island. A number of others are waiting for planning approval.

A number of individual investors who are based on Sal or Sao Vicente have also purchased land on Santo Antao but perhaps have not as yet decided on what they want to do with it.
