At Santa Maria Dive Center on Sal Island, Cape Verde, those that enjoy scuba diving can come and join us in the beautiful ocean that surrounds our little island. We also have special programmes for non-scuba divers, those that have never dived or haven't been diving for many years.
We can teach those who want to 'try dive' how to use dive equipment safely and with confidence, or if that is too adventurous, then come and snorkel with us, snorkelling is fun for children and adults. Diving and snorkeling are the favorite activities for tourists who visit Cape Verde.
The silky sands of the beaches, the clear emerald green water, the friendliness of the places, the eternal summer of Sal Island and the richness of the local underwater environment makes this one of the best diving destination of all Africa. With no rainy season in Sal Island, average annual temperature of 25,1ºC and underwater temperature between 23-30ºC this destination is an attractive location for diving all year round. During Winter (January – March) many whales, dolphins, mantas, turtles visit Sal Island on their annual migrations. Summer (June-November) is the mating season for local turtles and is possible to find them swimming nearby. It`s simply magical! The underwater world will satisfy the most demanding diver with wrecks, deep walls and caves and a great abundance and variety of marine life like rays, lobsters, morays, corals and a unique mix of diverse tropical and Mediterranean marine life (angelfish, surgeonfish, damselfish, snapper, parrotfish, grouper, sergeant major, pufferfish, tunas, some barracudas and much more.

Snorkeling is a favorite activity for tourists who visit Cape Verde. Your snorkel adventure will start on the dive center at 14h30 with a short, but important briefing when we explain you how and where will run your snorkel. The use of the equipment as fins, mask, snorkel and wetsuit will be explained to you. The snorkel program will run for about 2 hours.
We provide transfers for many snorkel sites with special emphasis for Marine Nature Reserve of Murdeira Bay and Natural Reserve of Sinó Point. In these sites, typically we snorkel in a beautiful shallow reefs and the bottom is at 6-15 feet (2-5 meters). Photos - Marine Nature Reserve of Murdeira Bay

This is your opportunity to feel the sensation of 'flying' under the sea, enjoying a beautiful underwater landscape full of life and quite possibly turtles!
Try Dive is an experience of scuba diving no deeper than 6 meters, and always with the company and control of an instructor or divemaster. You don`t need to be a certified diver to participate in this program. We take care of you while you enjoyed your dive moment!
After a short briefing where we tell you the basic notions of scuba diving, you will dive first in shallow waters and then in open water for approximately 20 minutes.
The outings for try dives start at 14h30, in the dive center, and will finish about 16h30.
