The executive led by Ulisses Correia e Silva is creating conditions so that from next month (May 2017) European citizens will be exempt from entry visas in the archipelago.
The announcement was made by Ulisses Correia e Silva, after a meeting with the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, last Monday.
Prime Minister Ulysses Correia e Silva said that the country is creating conditions for visa-free access for EU citizens from next month and stressed that this is a unilateral step by the African country and its implementation Depends on the completion of the necessary mechanisms to guarantee the receipts normally derived from visas and also border control.
The head of the Cape Verdean government intends to create conditions for boosting tourism and investment by removing the barrier that visas place in free movement.
The measure could also be extended to Britain, which has in the meantime triggered the mechanisms to abandon the European Union.
For Ulisses Correia e Silva, the abolition of visas for Europeans is advantageous for Cape Verde, as it allows European citizens a notion of extending the space adjoining Europe.
